Every single notebook or desktop or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program which communicates with the hardware equipment, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, together with any applications that are present on your system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, any application runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This is valid for both standard site scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, which means that you can set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Hosting

Our virtual private server plans feature three Linux distributions which you could pick from for the Operating System of your new web server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. In addition to being absolutely free, the OSs are very stable and secure and the key reason to offer you all three of them is to make sure that you can run every app that you would like, because different pieces of software have different requirements when it comes to the environment they work on. Each of the three OSs is backed by a huge community of web developers who have generated many hundreds of software packages that you can install and use on your VPS. In accordance with the Operating System that you select, you will also be able to choose between 3 different Control Panels to take care of your web hosting content. Needless to say, if you decide that you need some other OS, we can always re-install the server with it. As a paid upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the Operating System for max stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Web Hosting

In case you decide to purchase one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the order page since we want to give you a broader choice with regard to the system environment on the server as different applications could have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian feature different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and benefit from a stable and secure web hosting service. Based on your choice, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you've selected initially doesn't meet the requirements of the software which you would like to run. We can also upgrade your OS routinely in order to keep it as secure as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
